Dacia
Today I felt like researching Dacia, so decided to wikipedia them and put some information on my blog.
t was mainly where modern Romania and Moldova are, with bits of Hungary, Bulgaria and Ukraine, with the capitol of Dacia being Sarmizegetusa.
Based on archaeological findings, it can be determined that the Dacian culture started to develop from north of the Danube river to the Carpathian mountains. The Dacians were considered to be part of the Thracian nations.
The Dacians themselves were divided into two classes: the aristocracy (tarabostes) and the common people (comati). Only the aristocracy were allowed to cover their heads, and wore felt caps.
The Dacians had good outside trade, as determined from the vast amount of foreign coins found in the land.
They mainly concentrated on agriculture, apiculture, viticulture, livestock, ceramics, metal-working and the gold and silver mines in modern Transylvania.
In 85 AD, the Dacians attacked a nearby Roman province. In response, the Romans conquered
Dacia after several campaigns and cease-fires from 85 till 105 AD.
